What Does My Pet Need to Board?
Necessary items that all pet owners must bring with them include current vaccination records for each pet they bring. Pets do not play together, unless they come from the same home, so there is no temperament screening needed. Winding Road Kennel provides food, a comfy bed, and toys to play with while they stay with us. If your pet has any favorite blankets, toys, or special food, please bring it along.
Can Winding Road Staff Give Medication to My Pet?
The Winding Road Kennel staff can administer most medications to pets. Unfortunately, we cannot accept cats that need insulin. Pet owners must provide their pet’s medication upon check-in. There is an additional fee of $1.75 per dose.
What Vaccines Does My Pet Need Before Boarding?
Pet owners should be sure to have their pet up-to-date on all vaccinations to keep them safe and healthy. The ASPCA offers a comprehensive list of vaccines that all pets need. For boarding at Winding Road Kennel, be sure that your dogs have their rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella, and canine influenza vaccines. Cats must have rabies and distemper before staying with us.
All vaccines must be administered at least 72 hours before your pet stays with us. Pet owners can have their vet fax the verification to (304) 428-3545, or bring it with them upon arrival. If you pet cannot have a specific vaccine for a health reason, you must bring a signed letter from the veterinarian on company letterhead.
What Food Does Winding Road Kennel Use?
Winding Road Kennel uses Purina Dog Chow and Purina Cat Chow food for all guests. All pets are on a twice-a-day feeding schedule. If your pet has other dietary needs, please bring food with them and let us know. We will be happy to make any accommodations for your cat, dog, or other pet.
How Many Times Will My Pet Go Outside?
Dogs in our care will go outside three times a day for 20 minutes to play and use the bathroom. Additional play time is available for $3.50 per day, or for $5.00 for two or more pets. We understand that some younger dogs can be high-energy and need more exercise. Let us know when you make a reservation and we can add this extra time to your pet’s stay.
How Far Ahead Do I Need To Call for Boarding?
We recommend calling as soon as possible to reserve a stay at our boarding facility. Weekends and holidays fill up fast. If you are planning your summer vacation, or know of a long trip coming up, call now! We will accept last minute reservations with proof of vaccination; however, we cannot guarantee that there will be space available. If space is not available during the time you need, we can add you to a waiting list.
What Will Happen if My Pet Gets Sick or Injured?
Our staff takes the greatest care to make sure your pets are safe during their stay. We know how important your dog or cat is to you, and we treat them like our own. Unfortunately, pets may get sick or hurt while in our care. Should this occur, we will take your pet to the veterinarian if necessary. We will contact you to let you know everything that is going on and to keep you informed.
What Time is Check-in and Check-out?
Check-in times are Monday through Saturday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Check-out/pick-up times are Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Pet owners may check out late, but you will receive an additional day’s charge for boarding.
What Are Your Rates for Boarding?
Winding Road Kennel charges for boarding by the day. We offer family discounts for multiple pets who can stay in the same run. Our current rates are:
- Cat Boarding (all ages/sizes): $20
- Cat Daycare: $18
- Dog Boarding (all ages, from zero to 80 or more pounds): $29.50
- Dog Daycare: $2/hour
